Your Jethro Motivation to be Happy Where You Are

Your Jethro Motivation to be Happy Where You Are

One of the amazing things I experienced since we moved to America is the change of seasons. From the first cycle of seasons, I could really understand what I have been teaching in French since 2013 about seasons.

Actually I appreciate the Fall time because I have the impression that God came down and painted the leaves on trees to make a perfect decoration of the nature. I kept telling myself this sentence the whole of last Spring as I was walking or driving around.

I maintained a good relationship with some of my French students in Kampala  and one of them greeted me one morning on a social media platform. As the student asked me how is life in America, I responded we were entering the fall and the student responded ” We are entering the flooding season here.”

I felt bad because I knew where the conversation could escalate. Most of time when someone from Home Continent start a sentence like that, I could expect a lot of complains. So to turn the conversation to a more positive tune , I replied “There are also floods here in America. One of them just killed some people some times ago”.

I did a quick verification of what I listen on the news and sent the link.

Can you imagine! The former student was the one encouraging me and being compassionate about life and safety here in America.

By sharing about the flooding reality in the US,  I wanted to make my former student understand that there are challenges every where in the world, even America.

And this is my point for today’s article: Learn how to be happy where you are (unless it’s unsafe or killing your dreams) with what you have and you will see treasures around you. You might be surprise that some people even envy being where you are and they might never understand why you complain about everything all the time.

I remember that while training workers in Kampala, one of them told me she better raise her children in Africa than in America. Many Sub-Saharan African will not believe that until his/her ears hears such declaration.

My point is that there is much beauty around us to contemplate than things to complain about. Being happy where we are could simply means value people around us; Start a community project to bring positive impact; make donation to people in needs; visit or pray for the sick or prisoners.

Do something that demonstrate that where you are is the best place God want you to be right now and when time comes, you will move to a better place. That is what I demonstrate in my book The Secret of Distinction in the section seeing the best side of things.

These motivations speech could help you develop a more optimistic view of where you are right now so that you will be happier while working to move forward. In that way, you will learn more than everyone around you and bring more values to your environment than others.

Don’t forget to  Read, Reflect and Act on what could help you become happier where you are now in your life, career, family, project and community.

Ready?

1.”Ease is a greater threat to progress than hardship.” ( Denzel Washington, Actor,
director, producer  )

2. “Don’t let negative commentary from people who don’t understand what you do get you down. Remember the 80/20 rule and if you can satisfy 80% all the time, you’re doing ok .”( Henderson, Co-Founder/Director at The Winey Cow)

3. “A true leader can say ‘I don’t know’ or ‘I don’t understand’ or ‘I need help.”(Simon Sinek, Start With Why founder )

4. “It is the many different experiences you encounter along your own personal and unique journey that will really allow you to fulfill your potential — not just an uplift in salary, a change in job title and a company car allowance.” (Alistair Cox, Hays CEO)

5. “I’m convinced that about half of what separates successful entrepreneurs from the non-successful ones is pure perseverance.” (Steve Jobs, Apple Founder)

6. “Travaille dur jusqu’à ce que ça fasse vraiment mal parce que la pauvreté fait beaucoup plus mal…nous n’avons pas été créés pour rester pauvre.”(Paul Kagame, Président du Rwanda)

7. “Failure is not falling down and making a mistake, or choosing the wrong movie, or doing the wrong thing at the wrong time. It’s stopping. Stopping is the failure, not continuing forward is the failure, not keeping going.” ( Said Jennifer Lopez to LinkedIn’s Dan Roth , actor and entrepreneur )

I am very happy to understand that everybody don’t need to make a positive appreciation on me and what I am in for me to move forward in life. The truth is that such negative comments come from 80% people who don’t know or understand what I could be working on. The 20%  of people who value who I am and what I do bring the necessary driving force I need to accomplish 80% of my daily goals.

I would like to know which one of the above motivations helped you celebrate where you are now in a specific aspect of your life.
